A Yoga Book for Kids??

That's right. I said it. Not only am I floored that this is a thing that exists, I'm also extremely surprised that this isn't a thing I have heard of before. This book (and genre) is recommended for children aged 3-6, and my child is 2.5, so technically we didn't get the full benefits of the right aged child for this, but I think my baby had a great time! She really enjoyed getting on the floor and trying out all the fun poses and learning the names of all of them. She also enjoyed looking at the book and pointing out all the fun parts of spring that were showcased. Sammy the dog was her favorite part, I think. :)

She was able to mimic a host of animals and bugs to learn these fun moves too. She crawled like a caterpillar and buzzed like a bee, and I think really just had a fun time.

This fun and colorful book teaches children and parents easy to follow and learn yoga basics. I learned a lot reading this book to my daughter! It comes with a parent guide in the back so you don't feel lost or confused if you're a beginner. Which I am. It has advice for how to incorporate this book into your fun time. I thought picking up this book I would be in over my head. I was relieved to find I didn't need any expertise at all to get active with my children. The pictures are beautiful and the moves are so simple and great for me and my daughter to perform together. I have zero yoga experience and I wanted to get up and try these right along with her! It was fun to play and giggle and buzz like a bee with my daughter. I found this book to be like a family work out session without the stress. Isn't that what we all really need in our lives? Especially with the huge (pun intended) obesity epidemic.

I have found that the more active we are as a family, the better we work together, and the happier we are. I love the tools this book has given me to be a better mother to my children.

AND LASTLY. Can we talk about how easy nap time was after this? Seriously. I was getting so frustrated with my kids not wanting to nap, but after getting active all morning and giggling and having fun rolling around and stretching all over . . . nap time was a cinch!

Okay really lastly, I would like to add: I did not know prior to getting this book that this was a genre of books that existed. Yoga books for kids? That's a thing?! Brilliant idea. Thank you so so much for exposing me to this so I can immerse myself further. :)

I received this book for free so I could give you my opinion on it. All opinions are my own, and I only post reviews of things I like. :)

  1. I'll be reviewing the newest book on this series, and I really love the concept! Doing yoga incorporating stories is fabulous. I also found on youtube the most wonderful series for little kids on combining yoga and stories, if you'd like to try that too! It's called Cosmic Kids, and I reviewed that on the blog as well. I'm sure your daughter will grow loving doing yoga this way!
