Why You Should Always Gift A Book

Being a mother of two is hard sometimes. First off is the craziness of having two little humans around all the time having needs. Second . . . holy cannoli the toys. My daughter had just about every toy ever, or so I thought. Then we had a son. Did you know there is a boy equivalent to every single girl toy in the universe?

Well I did. They're all in the vortex of my children's play area.

A few weeks ago we celebrated the fun first year of my sweet son's life, and we got some pretty awesome boy toys (he mows the lawn now, LIKE A PRO) but we also received some books. We got some bath books and some big board books, and a few bigger books for when he's a little older. I am so happy that he has books for us to read to him, so we can experience that together. I would much rather step on a book in the middle of the night than a lego, that's for sure!

We try to give books every birthday to children. Sometimes we use the book as a card, and write sweet things inside the cover so they can always think of us when they're reading. Reading is such a beautiful escape from life, and it's so wonderful watching their little faces light up when we read them a new story. It's even more beautiful when my daughter sits on the couch and reads a book to herself, because she has memorized the words after reading it countless times.

If there's anything we love the most in this house, it's Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and reading. Usually at the same time. :)

What is your go to baby shower gift?

  1. My kids love those mowers. We mowed the snow this winter. We are overrun by toys too! I love the idea of giving books as gifts. We love books at our house. I've also been asking the grandparents for gift certificates for activities and memberships rather than more toys for me to trip over.
