Increasing Flexibility During Pregnancy

Flexibility is the first thing that usually suffers during pregnancy. It's hard to be able to lean, pull, or even reach your legs to stretch when you have a big belly in the way. If you try to stand up and bend over it's even worse. I'm getting heartburn just thinking about it. Nine months is a long time to not be able to stretch, and it could take a toll on your body. Keeping up with your flexibility will help you during labor, and could even help you bounce back quicker after childbirth. How can we stretch more, or even at all, during pregnancy when it's difficult to maneuver our bodies correctly? We just need a little help. That is where stretchy straps and bands come in to play. I have a set that I received last year that I have used to stretch in the past, but I haven't been able to find good use for them recently.

Then I found this DVD. It's an instructional DVD that breaks down some easy stretches that you can do with your stretchy straps! It's dedicated to learning how to use your stretching straps, but I used a regular resistance band (with folding and knotting to get the desired outcome). There are some stretches I couldn't do because of my huge third trimester belly, but in general this was a great introduction to stretching, and stretching straps! As a pregnant woman, it has really helped my poor achy joints a lot. I hope to be able to continue until I'm in labor, because the stretches feel great.

  1. Oooh I could've really used this!! I was so stiff and sore!! My joints were awful when I was pregnant!!

  2. I certainly could've used this when I was pregnant back when I ended up pregnant from pre cum... then again heck, I could use it right now!

  3. Flexibility exercises are very recommended during pregnancy (and not only) for the body`s health. Take any 5-minute course from YouTube, repeat it at least 3 times per week and you are good to go.
